someone asked me the other day and I have to say its an intriguing thought…have you ever considered having the Gaslight at the Hotel Del? while Im sure it would prove quite a pricey venture, I can also imagine the costuming fitting right in with the look and feel of the Del quite nicely.
just a thought.
Alas, the cost of having the convention at the Hotel Del would be beyond what most could afford. As a convention that is hosted by steampunks for steampunks, we try to keep the cost of the event as reasonable as possible.

The committee has considered a great many wonderful ideas…the really good ones like yours are waiting for more volunteers to implement them.
If you gather a crew to create it, you might propose an add-on adventure excursion to Hotel Del. For example, some attendees maybe willing and able to purchase Thursday entertainment, or a Friday morning transport to/from for breakfast or photo op. Hotel Del might even kick in something if you show them Tobias’ work from previous gatherings.
The officers and crew are stretched beyond belief bringing us the amazing gatherings we have enjoyed. You are invited to volunteer and encourage others to as well! There is a lot to do both in the year leading up to the event and at the gathering itself.
Last year I invited several attendees to join me at the Cosmo Hotel in nearby Olde Towne, and we had a wonderful time taking photographs in and around the rebuilt period building. This year I would be happy to help provide transportation for 15 to 20 guests to travel with Tobias to either the Cosmo or Hotel Del. (Provided it does not interrupt my planned tea times.)
You can catch the trolley from the Fashion Valley stop if you just walk across the bridge behind the hotel. Next stop would be Old Town. That way lots more people could go.
